The Four Pillars That Changed Everything: Listen • Move • Heal • Rise
The Four Pillars That Changed Everything: Listen • Move • Heal • Rise
Why these aren't just buzzwords - they're the foundation of everything I do
I get asked a lot about my "four pillars" and whether they're just another wellness trend or marketing gimmick. Trust me, I wish they were that simple. These four words - Listen, Move, Heal, Rise - aren't just pretty branding. They're the result of my own messy journey through breakdown, recovery, and discovering what actually works when life tries to knock you sideways.
Let me break down why each one matters, and more importantly, why they work better together than apart.
🎧 LISTEN: The Foundation Everything Else Builds On
This isn't about meditation apps or finding your zen (though those can be lovely). This is about actually paying attention to what your body and mind are telling you instead of bulldozing through life on autopilot.
I used to be the queen of ignoring signals. Tired? Push through. Stressed? Just work harder. Body aching? Suck it up. Sound familiar?
It took a proper breakdown for me to realise that listening isn't optional - it's survival. Your body whispers before it shouts, but most of us don't tune in until we're already in crisis.
Listening looks like:
Noticing when you're holding tension in your shoulders
Recognising when your energy dips and flows
Paying attention to what makes you feel genuinely good vs what you think should make you feel good
Tuning into your gut instincts about people and situations
Acknowledging your emotions instead of stuffing them down
Why it matters: You can't make good decisions about your wellbeing if you don't know what your wellbeing actually needs. This pillar is the foundation everything else builds on.
💪 MOVE: Your Body Was Made for This
Movement isn't punishment for what you ate or a way to earn your worth. It's how you honour the incredible machine you live in every single day.
I came to Pilates broken - physically and emotionally. Two c-sections, a hysterectomy, and years of treating my body like an inconvenience rather than a home. Movement, specifically Pilates, taught me that strength isn't about how much you can lift or how fast you can run. It's about connection, control, and showing up for yourself consistently.
Movement looks like:
Finding what feels good in your body rather than what looks good on Instagram
Stretching because it releases tension, not because it's #goals
Building strength that serves your life, not just your ego
Dancing in your kitchen, walking in nature, playing with your kids
Treating your body like a trusted friend rather than a project to fix
Why it matters: When you move with intention and joy, everything else gets easier. Your energy improves, your mood lifts, and you start to trust your body again. Plus, movement is one of the fastest ways to get out of your head and into your body.
🌱 HEAL: You Don't Have to Be Broken to Grow
Here's the thing nobody tells you about healing - you don't have to have experienced huge trauma to need it. We ALL carry programming from our past that doesn't serve our present.
Maybe you're a people pleaser. Maybe you neglect yourself. Maybe you have limiting beliefs about money, relationships, or your own worth. Maybe you just feel stuck in patterns that made sense once but don't anymore.
Healing isn't about fixing what's wrong with you. It's about releasing what no longer serves you and choosing what does.
Healing looks like:
Recognising old patterns without judgment
Choosing different responses to familiar triggers
Setting boundaries that protect your energy
Rewiring limiting beliefs about what's possible for you
Forgiving yourself for not knowing better when you didn't know better
Why it matters: You can listen to your body and move with intention all you want, but if your inner dialogue is still running old programming, you'll keep hitting the same walls. Healing clears the path for everything else.
⬆️ RISE: Becoming Who You're Meant to Be
This isn't about hustle culture or grinding your way to success. Rising is about stepping into the fullest expression of who you are when you're not held back by fear, exhaustion, or old stories.
It's about becoming the woman your younger self needed. The one your older self will thank you for being. The version of yourself that shows up fully because she knows she's worth it.
Rising looks like:
Taking up space without apologising
Going after dreams that feel too big
Speaking your truth even when your voice shakes
Celebrating your wins instead of minimising them
Supporting other women to rise too
Why it matters: When you listen, move, and heal consistently, rising becomes inevitable. You can't stay small when you're living in alignment with what your body, mind, and soul actually need.
Why They Work Together
Here's the magic - these pillars don't work in isolation. They're interconnected and each one supports the others:
You can't truly move with intention if you're not listening to what your body needs
You can't heal effectively if you're not moving energy through your body
You can't rise to your potential if you're not healing what's holding you back
And you can't sustain any of it without constantly listening and adjusting
This is why I created The Anchor Method - a way to track and nurture all four pillars daily, because transformation isn't a one-time event. It's a practice.
Your Turn
Which pillar feels most challenging for you right now? Where do you feel strongest?
Remember, you don't have to be perfect at all four. You just have to start somewhere and keep showing up. The woman you're becoming is worth that commitment.
